Steel City Tour – September 26th

Step back in time and explore the story of Pittsburgh’s steelmaking heritage on this unique ARPCA driving tour. Departing from The Lot at Edgewater in Oakmont at 8:30 a.m., the guided Rivers of Steel experience visits three National Historic Landmarks—the Bost Building, Carrie Blast Furnaces, and the historic Pump House—where members will learn about the people, events, and industries that made Pittsburgh the Steel Capital of the World, including the pivotal 1892 Battle of Homestead. The day also includes a catered immigrant-inspired lunch at the Pump House. This is a Porsches-only event, registration is required, and participants should dress for outdoor conditions with sturdy, closed-toe footwear. Hard hats will be provided for the Carrie Blast Furnaces tour. A driver safety meeting begins at 8:20 a.m., with route information distributed via the SCENIC app and paper directions one week before the event.
