The Putnam Backroads Tour & Adventure

Old Florida Calling — Great Roads, Great Cars & Great Company
Start your engines and leave the highways behind!
There are some roads you simply drive to get somewhere—and then there are roads you drive because you love driving.
This is one of those trips.
Join us for a memorable Porsche driving adventure through the backroads of North Florida, where winding country roads, beautiful scenery, fascinating history, and the camaraderie of fellow Porsche enthusiasts come together for a day—and evening—you won’t soon forget.
Our adventure begins in Green Cove Springs, where our two groups of Porsche enthusiasts will meet before heading out together. From there, we’ll trade the busy highways for some of North Florida’s most scenic and lightly traveled backroads.
This is where the fun begins.
Settle into your Porsche, enjoy the road, and experience the simple pleasure of driving with a group of people who appreciate the same things you do—the sound of the engine, the feel of the road, the scenery unfolding around every bend, and the camaraderie that comes from sharing the journey with fellow enthusiasts.
We’ll wind our way through beautiful North Florida countryside, enjoying roads that are as much a part of the adventure as the destination itself. Along the way, we’ll pass places connected to some of Florida’s most notorious history, including the institution where convicted criminal Ted Bundy was sentenced for his crimes.
And, of course, we’ll have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the cars, swap stories, admire each other’s Porsches, and get to know the people behind the wheels.
Lunch, Then Back on the Road
We’ll stop for lunch in High Springs, giving everyone a chance to stretch their legs, enjoy a good meal, and continue the conversations that started on the road.
Then it’s time to get back behind the wheel.
We’ll depart High Springs and continue toward our historic destination on even more lightly traveled backroads. With your Porsche beneath you and fellow enthusiasts ahead and behind, the drive becomes more than transportation—it’s the experience.
A 1927 Hotel with a Story to Tell
Our destination is a hotel built in 1927 by the Putnam Lumber Company, using rare pecky cypress and other fine hardwoods.
Restored in 2014, the hotel retains the charm and character of its early days. Its colorful history includes stories of Al Capone’s visits and its role as a meeting place for bootleggers during the days of Prohibition.
After checking in, take some time to explore the property, relax, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of this remarkable piece of Old Florida.
And for those who aren’t quite ready to park the Porsche for the day, there’s another option.
Take the Long Way to Horseshoe Beach
Hop back into your Porsche and head out toward Horseshoe Beach, originally populated in the 1800s and often called “Florida’s Last Frontier.”
Quiet roads, open countryside, coastal scenery, and very little traffic make this another opportunity to enjoy what we came here for in the first place—driving.
Because sometimes the best part of a Porsche trip isn’t where you’re going.
It’s the road that gets you there.
Good Cars. Good Roads. Good Friends.
We inspected several of the hotel rooms and found them to be clean and free of musty odors.
Then we’ll gather together for dinner at the 1927 Steakhouse, located right on the property within the lodge.
It’s the perfect way to end a day of driving, exploring, laughing, and sharing stories with fellow Porsche enthusiasts.
Bring Your Porsche. Bring Your Passion.
This is more than an overnight getaway.
It’s a chance to put some miles on your Porsche, discover roads you may never have found on your own, experience a fascinating piece of Old Florida, and spend time with people who understand why “Let’s go for a drive” is sometimes all the reason you need.
Great roads. Great cars. Great people.
That’s what a Porsche driving tour is all about.
