California Hot Rod Reunion

California Hot Rod Reunion is heading back to Famoso Dragstrip for 2026 with a weekend built around nitro, hot rods, drag racing history, and full-throttle nostalgia. This one is not a quiet park-and-polish kind of car show. The whole feel leans into fire, noise, and old-school dragstrip energy, with historic race cars, vintage hot rods, and nitro machines bringing the attitude. Between the Nitro Revival feature and the Cacklefest atmosphere, the event has the kind of sound-and-smell identity that only makes sense at a real dragstrip. Organized by the NHRA Motorsports Museum, the reunion carries a strong heritage angle without feeling like a museum piece. It is built around the people, cars, and machines that shaped traditional drag racing culture, from front-engine dragsters and altered race cars to hot rods, customs, and period-inspired builds. Good Vibrations Motorsports is included as the presenting sponsor, while the larger focus stays on the reunion itself and the history it brings back to life. Set at Famoso Dragstrip in Kern County, this one sits a little north of the usual Southern California loop, but it is very much worth noting for anyone who follows hot rod and drag racing culture. The Bakersfield-area setting gives the event the right kind of grit, especially for a weekend centered on nitro, staging lanes, smoky passes, and cars that were built to make noise. It feels less like a display and more like a return to the roots. California Hot Rod Reunion looks like a weekend for people who want more than shiny paint and lawn chairs. It is about the rumble, the flames, the stories, and the kind of machines that still make a crowd turn their head before they even see the car. Bring your crew and come ready for a dragstrip weekend with real heat behind it.
