About This Event
October 3–8, 2026
Some roads are driven once and forgotten.
Others become stories you’ll tell for years.
Join us this October as we set out on an unforgettable six-day Porsche adventure through the scenic backroads of the Southeast, culminating in one of Virginia’s greatest hidden gems—the Back of the Dragon.
From winding mountain highways and historic towns to memorable dinners and evenings spent with fellow enthusiasts, this tour is about far more than the destination. It’s about the people, the roads, and the shared passion that makes every Porsche Club event special.
The Adventure Begins
We’ll depart from Jacksonville, Florida, traveling together for our first overnight stop near Columbia, South Carolina before continuing into the heart of Virginia.
Our destination is the charming town of Abingdon, where we’ll spend several nights at a beautifully restored historic resort dating back to the early 1800s. Rich in character and Southern hospitality, it’s the perfect home base for exploring the surrounding mountains and relaxing after a day behind the wheel.
More Than Just a Drive
As with every great PCA tour, the memories extend well beyond the driver’s seat.
Throughout our stay, we’ll gather for several hosted group dinners, sharing stories from the day’s adventures while enjoying some of southwest Virginia’s finest dining. One evening features shuttle transportation to and from the oldest tavern and restaurant in the Commonwealth of Virginia—a fitting setting for an evening of great food, laughter, and camaraderie.
The Back of the Dragon
Don’t let the name fool you.
The Back of the Dragon is not the Tail of the Dragon—it’s an experience entirely its own.
Over 32 exhilarating miles, you’ll encounter 438 curves carved into the mountains of southwest Virginia. Smooth pavement, breathtaking overlooks, sweeping elevation changes, and remarkably light traffic make this one of the most rewarding driving roads in the country.
We’ve intentionally scheduled this tour for early October, just before peak fall color season. The result is a more relaxed driving experience with fewer crowds, less congestion, and more opportunities to enjoy the road exactly as it was meant to be driven.
