Saturday, October 24, 2026 • 11:15 a.m. • The Winery at Bull Run, Centreville, Virginia
Since 1963 the MG Car Club of Washington, D.C. has run the Braille Rallye for blind and visually impaired students and adults — one of the oldest and most distinctive events on the club calendar. A visually impaired navigator, working from route instructions in braille, large print or whatever format suits them best, directs the driver of a classic MG or other classic car over a set course. The drive is followed by lunch for everyone, and then awards. There is no cost to participate.
Not a timed event. For safety, the Braille Rallye is no longer timed. Drive the course at a relaxed, legal pace — team points come from the trivia questions along the route, not the clock.
This year’s route
We return to Manassas National Battlefield Park for the driving venue, on a different route from the last Rallye. We start and finish at The Winery at Bull Run, immediately adjacent to the Battlefield, and the winery will furnish lunch once the drive is done.
Come along even if you would rather not run the course
Visually impaired students and community members are welcome whether or not they want to take part in the driving contest. Join in at whatever level suits you — sit in a vintage car for a photo, take a short ride inside the vineyard, or simply come for lunch. The day is aimed at students and adults alike, and parents are welcome too.
How to join us
Club members: please RSVP below and tell us whether you will drive, so we can pair every navigator with a driver. You will need to be logged in to the website to RSVP.
Navigators and families: there is no formal sign-up. Email Tom Renda at
[email protected] or call or text 410-804-7017 with the number of people in your party and, if it applies, whether your navigator would prefer braille or another format for the route instructions.
Questions are welcome by email, phone or text. We look forward to a fun and educational day.
